Abstract

In May 2025, there was year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in Medan City of 0.64 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 107.52.
The y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in the expenditure group index, namely: clothing and footwear group by 1.93 percent; housing, air, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.26 percent; health group by 1.96 percent; transportation group by 0.46 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.14 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.34 percent; education group by 0.88 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 2.33 percent; and personal care and other services group by 12.17 percent.
The month to month (m-to-m) deflation rate for Medan City in May 2025 was 0.48 percent and the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate for Medan City in May 2025 was 0.70 percent.
